Scribe
The scribe has been identified with an anonymous scribe who used to sign his manuscripts by adding "P." or "Finis. P." in the end, active in Rome, and later in Florence for the bookseller Vespasiano da Bisticci (see f. 158r: "Finis P."). On the scribe see de la Mare 1985, 525-526 (below in Bibliography); for the identification see Sideri 2022, 25. The same scribe also wrote another copy of this work, Siena, Biblioteca Comunale e degli Intronati, K V 18.

Marks of ownership, inscriptions and previous shelfmarks
On the original front flyleaf: "Ex Biblioteca Ducum ab Altaemps". The manuscript thus belonged to the Altemps library in Rome. In 1690 it passed to the library of cardinal Pietro Ottoboni, future Pope Alexander VIII, from whom it passed to the Vatican Library.
